We are using solid round bars like steel bar, copper rod, aluminum rod etc. at construction sites. Solid Round Bar weight, area and volume Calculator can calculate unit weight and total weight. And this calculator can also calculate the unit and total cross sectional area and volume of the rod. The area of the rod is generally required in design calculations.

Brief description of solid round bar weight and area calculator input fields:

Dia of bar:

Bar diameter means the diameter of the bar. In this field we will input the diameter of the bar in any units. But if you take the diameter of the bar unit in meters then all the other input fields should be in meters.

Density of material:

Density of material= weight of material/volume of material.

In this input field we need to input the density of the material in the unit ‘Diameter of Bar’.

Some material density is written below:

Mild steel= 7850 kg/m3

Aluminium cast= 2580-2700 kg/m3 (Generally in aluminium round bar calculation taken 2700 kg/m3)

Copper cast= 8790-8940 kg/m3 (Generally in copper round bar calculation taken 8900 kg/m3)

Plain cement concrete= 2300 kg/m3

Reinforced cement concrete= 2400-2500 kg/m3 (for 2% steel), 2580-2700 kg/m3 (for 5% steel)

Length of bar:

In the length of bar input field 1 bar length known as length of bar. Length of bar unit should be same as dia of bar unit.

No. of bar:

In the input field of No. of bar input total no. of bar with one cutting length.

Example:

12mm diameter steel bundle contains 200 pieces. And the length of a rod is 12 meters. Calculate the total weight and cross section area of the bundle, also calculate the unit weight and cross section area. Take density of steel 7850kg/m3.

Solution:

Dia of bar= 12 mm

Dia of bar in meter= 0.012

Length of bar= 12 meter

No. of bar= 200

Density of material (steel)= 7850 kg/m3

Unit weight-

Unit weight of 12mm dia steel bar= volume of 1 meter length of bar*density of steel bar

Unit weight of 12mm dia steel bar= 3.142*0.012*0.012*0.25*1.0*7850

Unit weight of 12mm dia steel bar= 0.8879 ~ 0.888kg/m

Total weight-

Total weight of steel bundle= Unit weight of bar*Length of bar*no of bar

Total weight of steel bundle= 0.888*12*200

Total weight of steel bundle= 2131.200kg

Unit cross section area-

Unit cross section area of 12mm dia steel= Area of bar

Unit cross section area of 12mm dia steel= 3.142*0.012*0.012*0.25

Unit cross section area of 12mm dia steel= 0.000113112m2

Total cross section area-

Total cross section area of 12mm dia steel= Area of bar (Unit cross section area)*No of bar
